Who is behind COPE Sports?
Three friends, 29, 30 and 31 years old, who together have more than 70 years of club football under their belt.
In July 2022 we came up with the idea for our first product for COPE Sports.
Marcel, a striker at regional league club SC Weiche Flensburg 08, had been having problems with his soccer socks for some time, both in training and in games. In a conversation with Julian, who works full-time in the e-commerce sector, it turned out that he had the same problems.
Together they decided to bring an innovative product onto the market that would solve the identified problems.
With this in mind, the two approached their mutual friend Simon, who also has more than two decades of experience as a footballer and also brings broad specialist knowledge and a strong network in e-commerce through his own Google marketing agency.
This composition gave rise to the “COPE” team. United by the love of football and each with their own strengths.
And why COPE?
The word COPE came from the two names “COrnils” and “PEtersen”. It quickly became clear to both of them that their mutual friend Simon would be the perfect addition to the team with his know-how. This led to the inclusion of Simon's initials above the lettering "COPE" in the logo design. As luck would have it, the meaning of "to cope" couldn't be more appropriate for this project:
To “cope” or “master” something.
And that's exactly what we want with our products. We want to help you master your sporting challenges and take your game to the next level.
The product
The team, idea and name were there. Now it was time for us to work out the perfect composition and design. Thanks to a great manufacturing partner in Europe, we worked out our final product quickly and purposefully 6 months after the idea was conceived.
The vision
But it shouldn't stay that way. The vision with COPE is big. We are already working meticulously on additional products in the background. Our goal:
To be the new, smarter alternative among football equipment suppliers. And our socks are just the beginning.
